The Four F's of Remote Control Design
- Form
- Fit
- Feel
- Functionality
The Seven Steps of Production
STEP 1: Initial Concept Sketches
- Begins design & product utilization process
- Customer input is used to develop sketches
- Determine initial shape, size & key mapping
- Helps us to identify design issues that may create future problems in production and consumer operations
STEP 2: Computer Illustrations
- Creates multiple color studies
- Develops a progression from initial concept to production parts
- Gives customer the opportunity to make changes to product appearance
- Determines final product appearance
STEP 3: Form-Study Models
- Gives customer something to hold
- Used to determine final product shape for production
- Made of SLA, 3D Printer
STEP4: 3D Computer Model
- Early stages used for prototyping and models
- Photo-renderings based off model geometry to create realistic images
- Used for final part production
STEP 5: Photo-Renderings & Animations
- Allows customer to view product with material colors and silk-screens
- Shows product with different material and lighting properties
- Customer can see the entire 3D model on the computer
STEP 6: Prototypes & Production Models
- Based off 3D computer models
- Shows customer exactly what will be produced
- Used to evaluate mechanical design to eliminate problems
- Creates short-run production pieces
STEP 7: Mold Tooling & Final Production
- Final part production completed through our network of manufacturing plants
- Molds manufactured from 3D computer files
- Injection molded plastic create final production parts
